Columbus Catholic boys basketball drops Cloverbelt crossover to Bloomer

NEILLSVILLE – Bloomer opened up a 10-point lead by halftime and went on to defeat Columbus Catholic 66-43 in the first-place game of the Cloverbelt Conference Crossovers on Saturday at Neillsville High School.

Columbus Catholic shot just 31 percent in the loss (14-for-45), which snapped the Dons’ 14-game winning streak.

Bloomer (21-3) led 29-19 at halftime and outscored the Dons by nine in the second half to finish off the win.

Domanyck Schwartzenberger and Zeke Strand each scored 17 points for the Blackhawks.

Emmitt Konieczny scored 21 points and Blake Jakobi added 12 for Columbus Catholic.

Columbus Catholic (22-2) will host a WIAA Division 5 regional quarterfinal against Coulee Christian/Providence Academy (0-18) on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
