UW-Marshfield men’s basketball team loses high-scoring game to Western Tech

MARSHFIELD – Jake Scheppler scored 28 points but the University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County men’s basketball team lost a high-scoring nonconference game to Western Technical College 87-78 on Wednesday night at the Marauder Gym.

Cullen Haldeman drilled six 3-pointers and finished with 18 points, Trevor Gorman added 16 points and Brandon DeSmet had 11 for the Marauders, who fall to 4-8 on the season.

Marshfield trailed 44-40 at halftime before Western Tech pulled ahead at the end.

The Marauders host their annual Marshfield Classic on Friday and Saturday. Gogebic Community College plays Fox Valley Technical College at 6 p.m. and Marshfield hosts UW-Fond du Lac at 8 p.m. Friday. The consolation game is at 1 p.m. Saturday, followed by the championship game at 3 p.m.
