STRATFORD – Brady Schmidt tossed six no-hit innings with eight strikeouts to lead the Stratford baseball team to a 4-0 win over Marathon in a Marawood Conference South Division game Monday at the Tiger Stadium Baseball Field.

Schmidt worked around five walks to keep Marathon scoreless. After a leadoff double by Blake Underwood broke up the no-hitter for Marathon in the top of the seventh, Henry Zaleski was able retired the final three batters in order to finish off the shutout for the Tigers (4-1, 1-0 Marawood South).

Jack Tubbs was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, Vance Kielman scored on a wild pitch and Riley Spindler plated Riley Kroening on a sacrifice fly to give Stratford a 3-0 lead in the second.

The Tigers added another run in the fourth on an RBI single by Brady Berg.

Alec Chapel finished 2-for-3 for Stratford.

The two teams will play again Tuesday at Marathon starting at 4:45 p.m.
