UW-Marshfield men whip Fond du Lac, advance to championship game of Marauder Classic

MARSHFIELD – The University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County advanced to the championship game of the 40th Annual Marauder Classic by beating UW-Fond du Lac 81-65 in a semifinal matchup Friday night at the Marauder Gym.

Jake Scheppler scored 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Marauders, who improve to 5-8 on the season. Marshfield will take on Gogebic (Mich.) Community College at 3 p.m. Saturday in the championship game. Gogebic beat UW-Fox Valley 85-72 in the other semifinal Friday night.

Fox Valley Tech and UW-Fond du Lac will play in the consolation game at 1 p.m.

Marshfield jumped out to a 41-27 lead at halftime and outscored Fond du Lac by 10 in the second half to preserve the win.

Cullen Haldeman added 19 points, Trevor Gorman had 13 points and eight assists, and Brandon DeSmet had 13 points for the Marauders.
