MARSHFIELD – Wisconsin Rapids’ Abbey Gust scored midway through the second half to break a tie game and lift the Raiders to a 2-1 win over Marshfield in a Wisconsin Valley Conference girls soccer game Thursday at Heiting Community Stadium at Marshfield High School.

Allie Jahns scored at the 7:58 mark to give Wisconsin Rapids (2-2-1, 2-0 Wisconsin Valley Conference) a quick 1-0 lead.

Marshfield ited it on a 20-yard bomb from Abby Ongna at the 24:18 mark and the tie score held for the next 40 minutes of play before Gust knocked in what proved to be the game-winner.

Marshfield outshot Wisconsin Rapids 14-4, but could not get in another goal, falling to 3-4-1 overall and 1-1 in the WVC.

Marshfield will enjoy a week off from competition before playing a Wisconsin Valley Conference game at Wausau West on Thursday, April 25.
