Marshfield boys basketball team loses second straight; JV rolls

MERRILL – The Marshfield boys basketball team lost its second straight game, falling 52-36 to Merrill in a Wisconsin Valley Conference game Friday night at Merrill High School.

The Tigers drop to 12-3 overall and 4-3 in the WVC, falling into a three-way tie for second place 2 1/2 games behind unbeaten Wisconsin Rapids. Merrill improves to 8-8 and 3-4 in the Valley.

Merrill controlled the game throughout, leading by 13 points at halftime and at the end of three quarters. The Bluejays led by as many as 18 in the fourth quarter.

Marshfield, which started the season 9-0, is just 4-3 in its last seven games. The Tigers hosts Wausau West on Tuesday.

In the JV game, Marshfield led 21-8 at halftime on its way a 39-23 win, its ninth victory of the season (9-6).
