Seven-run second boosts Auburndale softball past Athens

ATHENS – Auburndale scored seven runs in the second inning and cruised to an 11-6 win over Athens in a nonconference softball game Tuesday.

Nicole Nikolay went 3-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored for the Apaches.

Scout Meyer tossed a complete-game four hitter to earn the win, striking out seven and walking four.

Becky Willfahrt added two hits and scored three times for Auburndale.

The Apaches (4-9) play a doubleheader at Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on Friday.
