Pittsville ousts Marshfield Columbus Catholic from WIAA softball playoffs

PITTSVILLE – Summer Wilke and Mariah John combined on a one-hitter to lead Pittsville to an 11-1 win over Marshfield Columbus Catholic in a WIAA Division 4 regional quarterfinal Thursday.

Wilke struck out seven and walked three, allowing the lone hit and run – a home run by Elizabeth Manlick – in the fourth inning. John struck out one and walked two in the fifth to complete the win for the Panthers.

Michaela Wolf was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and Corttnee Robus was 2-for-3 to lead Pittsville’s offense.

Katelyn Welsh allowed seven hits and six walks in the loss for Columbus Catholic, which finishes its season 0-19.

Pittsville (8-9) moves on to a Division 4 regional semifinal at Almond-Bancroft on Tuesday.
