SPENCER – The Spencer volleyball team finished 3-1 and in a three-way tie for first place Tuesday at the Spencer Invitational.

The Rockets beat Pittsville 17-25, 25-18, 25-16; Prentice 25-16, 25-18; and Stanley-Boyd 25-17, 26-24; before losing to Chippewa Falls McDonell 25-19, 25-21. Stanley-Boyd defeated McDonell to force the three-way tie for the invitational title.

“A great way to start the year, a three-way tie for first,” Spencer coach Buff Heller said. “When we attacked the ball, we were tough to play against. Once we clean up some unforced errors, our game should really click.”
