Auburndale’s passing game lights up Tomahawk

AUBURNDALE – The Auburndale football team won its first game of the season in convincing fashion on Friday, downing Tomahawk 56-12 in a Marawood Conference game at Auburndale High School.

Blake Anderson completed 13 of 15 passes for 339 yards and five touchdowns to lead the onslaught for the Apaches, who improve to 1-2 overall and in the Marawood. Tomahawk falls to 0-3 overall and in the conference.

Anderson completed two touchdown passes each to Isaac Castellano and Austin Hawkins, and another to Markus Kleifgen. Dom Lewis added two rushing touchdowns and Canyon Weiler added another for the Apaches, who led 42-6 at halftime.

Castellano caught three passes for 146 yards and the two scores, and Hawkins added three catches for 84 yards. Weiler ran for 92 yards and Lewis added 62 on the ground as Auburndale outgained the Hatchets 502-230.

Auburndale will take on two-time defending Division 6 state champion Edgar on the road next Friday.
