Columbus Catholic’s Elizabeth Manlick added to WIAA girls state tennis tournament field

The WIAA announced its brackets for the state girls individual tennis tournament and Marshfield Columbus Catholic junior Elizabeth Manlick was added as an additional qualifier.

Manlick (17-3), making her second straight WIAA state appearance, will play a Division 2 first-round match against Liz McGrail, a senior from Big Foot/Williams Bay, who is 20-3 this season. The match will be at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Marshfield’s Megan Hayes, who qualified at No. 1 singles in the Division 1 field, will take on Maria Zompolas of Fond du Lac in a first-round matchup Thursday at 5 p.m. Hayes is 16-10 and Zompolas is 21-7. Both are seniors.

The tournament will be held Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 13-15, at Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison.
