The WIAA football playoffs continued with Level 4 state semifinals on Friday and Saturday.

Winners of this weekend’s games will play at the WIAA State Football Championships at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison.

On Friday, Wisconsin Rapids, champions of the Valley Football Association South Division, defeated Milwaukee Riverside 35-14 to move on to its first state finals appearance since losing in the Division 1 title game in 2005.

Edgar saw its 40-game win streak snapped, losing to Fond du Lac St. Mary’s Springs 38-0 in a Division 6 semifinal. The Wildcats had won the previous two Division 6 state titles.

On Saturday, Colby returned to the Division 5 state finals with a 15-7 win over Brillion, the team that beat the Hornets in Madison last season.

Greenwood/Granton from the Cloverwood Conference advanced to the Division 7 state final after edging Clayton 34-26.

Divisions 7, 6 and 5 championship games will be held Thursday, Nov. 17, with the games in Divisions 4, 3, 2 and 1 set for Friday, Nov. 18.
