ORLANDO, Fla. – The Marshfield baseball team wrapped up its trip to Florida by winning its final two games and finishing with a 2-2 record in four games at the Disney World Baseball Complex.

The Tigers lost two games on Monday, falling to Nelson County, Kent., 7-5, and to Spring Valley, W.V., 10-3.

Marshfield responded with a 3-1 win over Pideia, Ga., on Tuesday and nailed down a 5-4 win over Methacton, Pa., on Thursday.

The Tigers will finish their trip with a scrimmage on Friday.

Marshfield had 14 hits in its loss to Nelson County and 11 hits in the loss to Spring Valley.

Elliot Ashbeck tossed a complete game in the 3-1 win over Pideia, Ga., striking out nine and walking just two.

In the finale Thursday, Bo Howard delivered a walk-off RBI triple to score Ashbeck with the winning run in the 5-4 victory over Methacton, Pa.

“We played four really good ball games and defensively we did pretty well,” Marshfield coach Mark Zee said. “Elliot Ashbeck and Nick Treankler really hit the ball well and it was a great way to start out season by going 2-2 against good teams.”

Ashbeck went 8-for-13 and Treankler was 7-for-13 at the plate for the Tigers during the four-game series at Disney.
