Krystal Weier blasts two home runs to lead Spencer softball past Augusta

AUGUSTA – Krystal Weier hit two home runs, including a grand slam, in Spencer’s 14-run second inning and the Rockets cruised to a 22-1 win over Augusta in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division softball game Tuesday.

Spencer smashed 15 hits, three by Weier who totaled eight RBIs. Tynae Phillips, Sam Nikolay and Marisa Johnson each added two hits and two RBIs for the Rockets.

Phillips and Heidi Guenther combined on a five-inning one-hitter for Spencer.

The Rockets scored four times in the first inning then exploded for 14 more in the second to take control.

Spencer improves to 10-4 and 6-3 in the Cloverbelt East, while Augusta falls to 5-5 and 5-3 in the conference.
