Columbus Catholic softball edges Owen-Withee

OWEN – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic softball team had its bats come alive in an 11-10 win over Owen-Withee in the team’s regular-season and Cloverbelt Conference East Division finale on Monday.

The Dons trailed 7-3 after two innings before exploding for three runs in the third, two more in the fourth to take an 8-7 lead, and three in the fifth. Columbus then held off rallies in the sixth and seventh innings by Owen-Withee to eke out the one-run win.

Antoinette Kaiser and Alishia Reigel each had two hits for the Dons, who had seven in all. Katelyn Welsh earned the win for Columbus, striking out eight and walking one in seven innings.

Columbus (2-15, 2-13 Cloverbelt East) open postseason play with a WIAA Division 4 regional quarterfinal on Thursday at Wisconsin Rapids Assumption.
