UW-Marshfield/Wood County basketball teams sweep UW-Rock County

JANESVILLE – The University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County basketball teams continued their torrid start to the season with double-digit wins at UW-Rock County on Saturday.

The Marauders women beat UW-Rock County 83-65 behind a triple-double from Kaitlyn Mefferd and 36 points from Corrine Meacham.

Mefferd had 14 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists, while McKenzie Trunkel added 26 points and Addi Vold had 12 rebounds for UW-Marshfield (6-2, 4-1 Wisconsin Collegiate Conference).

Four Marauders scored in double figures to lead the men’s team to a 69-54 victory.

Leo Braun had 12 points and Matt Grunewald, Brandon Herr and Cain Trunkel each had 11 points for UW-Marshfield (7-1, 3-0 WCC).

The Marauders host UW-Fox Valley in a doubleheader on Monday. The women’s game starts at 5:30 p.m. with the men’s game to follow at 7:30 p.m.
