Spencer boys basketball outlasts Gilman

SPENCER – Mitchell Susa poured in 19 points and Cody Esser had 12 points and seven rebounds to lead the Spencer boys basketball team to a 63-53 win over Gilman in Cloverbelt Conference East Division action Friday night at Spencer High School.

Susa drilled five 3-pointers in Spencer’s victory.

The Rockets used a 22-13 third quarter to pull away in a game they led by just one at halftime.

The Rockets held a 28-20 rebounding advantage and shot 49 percent (23 of 47) from the field in the win.

Spencer improves to 4-5 overall and in the Cloverbelt East, while Gilman drops to 2-7 overall and in the conference.

Spencer is off until Jan. 4 when it hosts Colby.
