Stratford boys basketball pulls away in second half, beats Northland Lutheran

KRONENWETTER – Andrew Marcis had a dominating game inside, scoring 20 points and grabbing 12 rebounds, to lead the Stratford boys basketball team to a 74-57 win over Northland Lutheran on Thursday night at Northland Lutheran High School.

Jake Reif added 19 points for the Tigers, making three 3-pointers and 6 of 8 free throws. Marcis was 8 of 11 from the field and drilled all four of his free-throw attempts for Stratford.

Stratford improves to 11-5 overall and gets back to the .500 mark at 5-5 in the Marawood South. Northland Lutheran drops to 4-11 and 1-8 in the conference.

After a tight first half, with Stratford leading 32-21 at halftime, the Tigers used a 24-12 third quarter to pull away.

Gideon Nelson scored 17 points and Tim Venus added 14 for the Wildcats.

Stratford hosts Edgar on Tuesday.
