Marshfield Junior Legion takes two from Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT – The Marshfield Junior Legion baseball team has won six of its last seven games after sweeping a doubleheader from Stevens Point 7-4 in 10 innings and 15-10 on Tuesday.

Jack Donahue earned the win in the opening game, throwing a 10-inning complete game. He allowed three earned runs and struck out seven, and also had three hits.

Cameron Swanson had four hits, including a double, and Sam Klein and Mitch Zillman each added doubles for Marshfield.

The Blue Demons jumped out to a 15-1 lead after four innings of the second game, then held off a late rally by Stevens Point to earn the sweep.

Trevor Schwecke gave up four runs in 5 2/3 innings, with Sam Klein throwing the final 1 1/3 innings.

Klein hit a home run and had three hits overall, and Schwecke, Matt Kuhlka, Swanson and Mitch Zillman each had two hits in the win for the Blue Demons (15-10-1).

Marshfield hosts Wisconsin Rapids for a pair of games Friday starting at 5:30 p.m.
