40th Marshfield Columbus Catholic Cross Country Invitational set for Saturday at Wildwood Park

MARSHFIELD – The 40th annual Marshfield Columbus Catholic Cross Country Invitational is set for Saturday, Aug. 31, at Wildwood Park.

Approximately 1,000 runners from 41 schools (35 from Wisconsin and six from Minnesota) will compete in the annual Labor Day weekend event.

The invite begins with the Middle School race at 9 a.m., followed by the JV boys at 9:30 a.m., girls varsity at 10 a.m., the boys varsity at 10:30 a.m., the JV girls at 11 a.m. and and Open 2-mile race for coaches, Alumni and spectators at 11:30 a.m. Awards will be presented at noon.

The boys will run 5,000 meters and the girls will take part in a 4,000-meter race. The Middle School race is 2 miles. The course will feature a water jump.

Among the teams competing are Marshfield, Augusta, Colby, Chippewa Falls McDonell, Owen-Withee, Stevens Point Pacelli, Edgar, Lincoln, Blair-Taylor, Milwaukee Divine Savior Holy Angels, La Crosse Logan, Nekoosa, Whitefish Bay, Bonduel, Manitowoc Roncalli, Stillwater (Minn.), Wayzata (Minn.), White Bear Lake (Minn.) and Chequamegon.

Wayzata (Minn.), Green Bay Notre Dame and Chequamegon won both the boys and girls team titles in Divisions 1, 2 and 3, respectively, at last year’s event.
