Marshfield girls tennis wraps up WVC schedule with third straight win

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield girls tennis team wrapped up its regular-season schedule with its third straight win, a 4-3 victory over Merrill in Wisconsin Valley Conference action Thursday at Boson Courts.

The Tigers won all three doubles matches and Alley Pue earned a win at No. 4 singles to give Marshfield the victory.

Marshfield ends the WVC regular season with a 4-2 dual-meet record, and Merrill finishes 1-5.

The Tigers’ No. 3 doubles team of Autumn Packard and Emily Ott came back after losing the first set to beat Hanna Corhs and Rachel Bayer 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

The No. 1 team of Jenny Madden and Emily Serchen, and the No. 2 team of Olivia Haessly and Emily Seidel each won in straight sets, as did Pue in singles.

Marshfield will compete at the Wisconsin Valley Conference Tournament in Wausau on Oct. 3.
