Marshfield’s Rebecca Voss takes 31st at 2013 WIAA State Cross Country Meet

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Marshfield senior Rebecca Voss finished her career with a 31st-place finish at the 2013 WIAA State Cross Country Meet on Saturday at the Ridges Golf Course.

Voss finished in 15:14.47 to take 31st in the Division 1 girls race, but was just 26 seconds off of the top 10 in a tight race.

“Rebecca had just a tremendous final three weeks of her senior season that we won’t soon forget,” Marshfield coach Dan Akin said. “To see her beat over 90% of the competition today (all three divisions included) is very impressive. She also improved her time on this course by almost one minute from when we ran here three weeks ago at the Lincoln Invite.”

Elizabeth Flately of Brookfield Central won the race in 14:11.11.

Auburndale’s Abby Bauer, competing in Division 3, finished 47th in 16:32.46. Delaney Sinnen of Random Lake won the D-3 girls race in 14:22.55.

Hartland Arrowhead, Madison Edgewood and Oshkosh Lourdes won the girls team titles.

The Marshfield Columbus Catholic boys team was last among the 16 teams competing in Division 3.

The Dons finished with 371 points and were led by Jeremy Binder, who took 102nd in 18:42.38 and Sam Studinger, who was 107yh in 18:49.82.

Stratford’s Phil Sersch also competed in the Division 3 boys race and took 79th in 18:14.25.

Darlington won the D-3 team title with 87 points, just two points ahead of Chequamegon. Tyson Miehe of Darlington won the race in 15:57.49.

Stevens Point won the Division 1 boys team title, with Wisconsin Lutheran taking first in Division 2.
