The top three teams in standings dominated the all-conference voting on the 2013 All-Marawood Conference South Division Girls Volleyball Team.
Conference champion Marathon had three first-team selections and second-place Wausau Newman Catholic and third-place Auburndale each had two picks. Six of the seven first-team picks were unanimous.
Auburndale senior Kendra Kundinger and junior libero Hannah Castellano were both unanimous selections to first team.
“Kendra is such a strong defensive player and then she turns as our setter,” Auburndale coach Peggy Empey said. “She starts our offense right away and is just a huge asset to our team – always bettering the ball and helping to make the play unfold.
“Hannah has been a rock in the back. The girls know they can rely on her to get the ball. Her strong competitive nature has been very awesome for the girls to see. She really has that will to win.”
They are joined on the first team by Marathon’s Emily Kind, Morgan Wirkus and Kia Lechleitner, and Newman’s Shaefer Rupar and Mariah Whalen.
Auburndale also had two second-team picks – junior Shannon Yahnke and senior Camille Swart. Jenna Peplinski was an honorable mention selection.
Stratford’s Mackenzie Hannan was named to the second team and Savannah Schillinger and Marrissa Wussow were honorable mention choices for the Tigers.
