Holmen edges Marshfield boys basketball in Tigers’ home opener

MARSHFIELD – Luke Zuiker poured in 32 points and grabbed nine rebounds, but the Marshfield boys basketball team fell short, losing to Holmen 64-58 in a nonconference game Tuesday night at Marshfield High School.

Zuiker made 11 of 18 shots from the field, including 4 of 6 from 3-point range and 6 of 6 from the free throw line. The rest of the Tigers made just 10 of 25 shot attempts and were 3 of 11 from 3-point range.

Holmen (3-0) used an 18-11 advantage in the second quarter to take a 28-21 lead at halftime. Marshfield responded with a 19-14 third quarter to cut the deficit to two, but Holmen was able to hold off the Tigers in the fourth.

Marshfield (1-2) opens its Wisconsin Valley Conference schedule Friday with a home game against Wausau West at 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on WDLB-AM 1450 and online at wdlbwosq.com.
