Colby beats cold-shooting Spencer girls basketball

SPENCER – Spencer shot just 23 percent from the floor, 31 percent from the free throw line and lost its Cloverbelt Conference East Division girls basketball opener to Colby 41-27 on Friday night at Spencer High School.

The Rockets made just 10 of 43 shots and 4 of 13 free throws in the loss, which drops their overall record to 1-1. The game was Colby’s season-opener.

Lisa Horacek scored 13 points to top the Hornets, who were slightly better shooting, making 13 of 35 (37 percent).

Macie Weber had eight points for Spencer.

Spencer returns to action Thursday, Dec. 12, at home against Marshfield Columbus Catholic.
