MARSHFIELD – Marshfield’s depth kept it in the meet, but Wausau East won 10 of the 11 events and pulled out an 89-81 win over the Tigers in a Wisconsin Valley Conference boys swimming dual meet Thursday at Marshfield High School.
The Tigers’ only win came in the 200 medley relay. The team of Brian Engel, Zach Korth, Denver Anderson and Matt Brown won in 1:55.45.
Marshfield falls to 0-3 in WVC meets this season, while East is now 3-1.
Taking second for Marshfield were Bret Roeglin in the 200 freestyle (2:38.54), Denver Anderson in the 50 freeestyle (24.66) and the 100 backstroke (1:04.38), Matt Brown in the 100 freestyle (57.93), Zach Korth in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.62) and the 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay teams.
The 200 freestyle relay team of Korth, Trevyn Tham, Roeglin and Caleb Hansen was second in 1:51.35, and the 400 free relay team of Engel, Mason Metz, Anderson and Brown was second in 4:04.02.
Marshfield competes at the Eau Claire Memorial Invitational on Saturday.
