Neillsville senior Jenny Lindner received 2,415 of the nearly 4,400 votes cast to win the voting for the WDLB-WOSQ Radio/MarshfieldAreaSports.com December High School Athlete of the Month award.
Lindner, a University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee recruit, is the top scorer on a Warriors’ team that is off to a 9-0 start overall and has a 6-0 record in the Cloverbelt East.
Lindner averaged 16.7 points, 6 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 2.5 steals per game in eight games in December for Neillsville.
Other nominees for the December award were Luke Zuiker of Marshfield boys basketball, Emily Kind of Marathon girls basketball, Albert Goerlitz of Owen-Withee boys basketball and Anthony Gliniecki of Stratford wrestling.
Varsity athletes from the following high schools are eligible to be nominated for the award, which will be given out monthly from September 2013 through May 2014: Abbotsford, Athens, Auburndale, Colby, Columbus Catholic, Edgar, Granton, Greenwood, Loyal, Marathon, Marshfield, Neillsville, Owen-Withee, Pittsville, Spencer, Stratford and Thorp. An Athlete of the Year award will be chosen by WDLB-WOSQ Radio and MarshfieldAreaSports.com staff in June.
Winners of the monthly award, and the Athlete of the Year, will be presented an award from Burt Awards.
