Newman rolls past Auburndale baseball

AUBURNDALE – Wausau Newman Catholic’s Luke Prososki scattered three hits over five innings to shut down Auburndale 14-0 in a Marawood Conference South Division baseball game Thursday at Auburndale High School.

Newman scored three runs in the top of the first inning to give Prososki a lead before he took the mound against the Apaches.

Prososki struck out eight and walked one in the complete-game effort.

Rhys Wahleithner took the loss for Auburndale, allowing eight hits and nine earned runs over four innings.

Newman scored at least one run in each of the five times it batted, including five in the top of the fifth.

Nick Dahlke had two hits and four runs scored and Luke Gajewski had a triple for Newman.

Wahleithner, Troy Kollross and Tony Altmann each had singles to account for Auburndale’s only hits.

Auburndale plays a nonconference game at Abbotsford on Friday.
