SPENCER – Greenwood posted three five-run innings and took advantage of 12 Spencer errors to knock off the Rockets 18-4 in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division softball opener for both teams Friday at ARC Park.

Spencer scored twice in the bottom of the first inning – on a fielder’s choice RBI by Nicki Bruss and a wild pitch. Greenwood answered with three runs in the second before Spencer tied it with a tally in the bottom of the inning.

The Indians then posted five runs in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings against Bruss and reliever Dominique Stange to win going away.

Spencer managed just five this against Greenwood pitcher Kelsey Guenther, who struck out three and walked five in a complete-game effort.

Bruss, Breanna Kettleborough, Monica Stange, Deanna Szybowicz and Krystal Weier each had singles for the Rockets (0-2).

Spencer returns to action with a Cloverbelt East game at home next Friday.
