EDGAR – Marshfield Columbus Catholic sophomore Alexandra Hutchison won the 100- and 200-meter dashes and was part of the Dons’ 400 relay team that also took first place at the WIAA Division 3 Track & Field Regional on Tuesday at Edgar High School.
Hutchison teamed with Katie Weister, Rachel Roehl and Hannah Stratman to win the girls 400 relay in 52.35 seconds. She also won the 100 in 12.70 and the 200 in 26.05.
The top four finishers in each event qualify for the WIAA Division 3 sectional on Friday at Marathon.
Also making it to sectionals for the Columbus Catholic girls were the 3,200 relay team of Kendra Baierl, Natalie Posphalla, Rachael Albrecht and Hannah Grubofski, which placed second in 11:16.62, and Grubofski, who took second in the 800 (2:42.09).
Auburndale’s Sylviann Momont qualified for sectionals in three events. She took second in the long jump (16-8.25), and third in the 100 (13.55) and the triple jump (32-11.75).
Five other individuals and two relays also made it to sectionals for the Apaches girls.
The Spencer girls had three relay teams and five individuals qualify. Paige Lawrence took second in the 400 (1:03.24) and fourth in the pole vault (8-0). Abby Varsho also had a second-place finish for the Rockets in the high jump (4-10).
For the boys, Auburndale’s Isaac Castellano and Tom Sabel had the only wins for the three local teams. Castellano placed first in the 800 (2:02.90) and was one of five individuals to make it to sectionals. He also part of the 400 relay team, along with Shane Brandl, Lee Jepsen and Sabel, that placed third (45.50). Sabel won the 200 (23.45) and was second in the triple jump (40-8). Jepsen was second in the 100 (11.67).
Columbus Catholic had its 1,600 and 3,200 relay teams advance, as well as four individuals. Jacob Puent and Farid Torbey tied for third in the high jump (5-10), Christian Payant was third in the 300 hurdles (42.39) and Malcolm Pittsley took third in the 200 (24.07).
Spencer had two boys move on to sectionals. Noah Zastrow was third in the pole vault (11-6) and Spencer Susa took fourth in the shot put (44-3).
