ATHENS – The Auburndale volleyball team couldn’t hold on to a lead and dropped a nonconference match to Athens 3-2 on Thursday at Athens High School.
Athens won 20-25, 25-11, 20-25, 25-13, 15-10.
Shannon Yahnke had 12 kills, Jenna Peplinski added 10 kills and 16 digs, Hannah Castellano and Cheyenne Karl each had 22 digs and Sydney Schmutzer had 37 assists for the Apaches.
Auburndale plays at Stratford in its Marawood Conference South Division finale next Tuesday.
