Marshfield sixth at 2014 Wisconsin Valley Conference Girls Swim Meet

STEVENS POINT – Freshman Sophie Koehn took sixth in the 100 freestyle (59.02) and the 100 backstroke (1:06.48) for Marshfield’s top finishes at the 2014 Wisconsin Valley Conference Girls Swim Meet on Thursday at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

Wausau East won the meet with 480 points, just 26 ahead of second-place Stevens Point. Marshfield was sixth with 163 points. East won the overall WVC championship, combining the dual meet season and conference meet, for the 12th year in a row.

Elizabeth Holbrook was seventh in the 200 IM (2:29.14) and Sarah Claessens took seventh in the 200 freestyle (2:09.57) for the Tigers.

Kathryn Stupar (200 freestyle, 500 freestyle) and Julia Stupar (200 IM, 100 freestyle) each won two events and teamed with Skyelar Volm and Alex Raczek to win the 400 freestyle relay for Stevens Point.

Sarah Kane of Wausau East, Caroline McDonald of Wausau West, and Julia Stupar of Stevens Point were named the Wisconsin Valley Conference Co-Swimmers of the Year.

Ben Gensler of D.C. Everest and Daylyn Hopp of Stevens Point were named Co-coaches of the Year.
