Columbus Catholic boys soccer beats Pacelli to take WIAA Division 4 regional title

MARSHFIELD – Marshfield Columbus Catholic scored three goals in the second half to defeat Stevens Point Pacelli 3-1 in a WIAA Division 4 boys soccer regional final on Saturday at Griese Park.

Charles Payant scored 53 seconds into the second half and Farid Torbey added a pair of goals later in the second half to push the Dons to the victory.

Columbus Catholic (14-1-3) will play La Crosse Aquinas (9-7-5) in a Division 4 sectional semifinal at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Griese Park. The winner moves on to the sectional final at Cumberland on Oct. 31 at 1:30 p.m. and will play for a berth in the WIAA State Boys Soccer Tournament.

Pacelli ends its season with a 12-9-4 record, including three losses to the Dons.

Bailey Keffer had four saves in goal for the Dons, who held a 21-6 advantage in total shots.
