Spencer volleyball sweeps Loyal/Granton to win WIAA Division 3 regional title

SPENCER – The Spencer volleyball team keeps rolling along.

The Rockets swept Loyal/Granton 25-15, 25-23, 25-20, to win a WIAA Division 3 regional final on Saturday night at Spencer High School.

Spencer moves on to a sectional semifinal matchup with Stanley-Boyd on Thursday at Edgar High School. The match will begin at 7 p.m. The winner moves on to a sectional final on Oct. 31 against either Wittenberg-Birnamwood or Oshkosh Lourdes at Amherst.

“This group of girls really deserved this regional title,” Spencer coach Buff Heller said. “It was such a well-rounded effort by the whole team. It will be a huge honor to represent our school and conference in the sectionals.”

Macie Weber had a team-high 12 kills, Jenna Rogers had nine digs, Sydney Kind added 10 kills, and Rae Kind and Weber each had five blocks for the Rockets.

McKenzie Bainer had 18 assists and Sadie Mercier had 15 assists for Spencer.
