Edgar holds off Spencer girls basketball at the free throw line

EDGAR – Edgar held a 12-point advantage on the free throw line and outrebounded Spencer by 16 as it went on to defeat the Rockets 50-45 in a nonconference girls basketball game Tuesday night at Edgar High School.

Edgar made only 14 of 28 free throws, but outscored the Rockets 14-2 at the line, and also held a 39-23 rebounding advantage.

Spencer (1-1) stayed in the game by shooting a solid 7 of 22 from 3-point range, but couldn’t overcome the disparity at the line.

Tianna Borchardt scored 18 points for Edgar (2-1).

Sydney Kind led Spencer with 15 points, all coming on 3-pointers as she made 5 of 9 from long range. Macie Weber added 12 points for the Rockets.

Spencer hosts Columbus Catholic on Thursday in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division matchup.
