Marshfield girls basketball blasts Mosinee for fifth-straight win

MOSINEE – Maddie Nikolai scored a season-high 19 points to help lift the Marshfield girls basketball team to its fifth-straight win to start the season as it whipped Mosinee 67-36 in a nonconference game Tuesday.

McKayla Scheuer added 16 points, which included four 3-pointers, and Ema Fehrenbach had 12 points and six rebounds for the Tigers (5-0).

Marshfield was hot from the start, cruising out to a 48-26 lead by halftime.

The Tigers shot 46 percent (28 of 60), while holding Mosinee (2-2) to 34 percent from the field (16 of 47) and forcing 24 turnovers.

Marshfield plays at Stevens Point on Friday as part of a girls-boys doubleheader. The girls game starts at 6 p.m. with the boys to follow at approximately 7:45 p.m. Both games will be broadcast on WDLB-AM 1450 and wdlbwosq.com.
