Larson, Gotz each drive in four in Columbus softball win

MARSHFIELD – Olivia Larson had two hits, including a triple, and four RBIs and Abby Gotz was 2-for-2 with four RBIs to lead the Marshfield Columbus Catholic softball team to a 14-4 win over Colby on Friday at the Central Wisconsin Fairgrounds.

The win is just the third of the season for the Dons, who improve to 3-6 overall and 3-5 in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division. Colby falls to 2-9, 2-8 in the Cloverbelt East.

Haley Orella and Shawna Rhodes each scored three times for the Dons, who had seven hits and walked 15 times in the five-inning win.

Melissa Ptak had four walks and and Elizabeth Manlick walked twice, with each scoring two runs for Columbus.

Kately Welsh struck out three and didn’t walk a batter to pick up the victory for Columbus.

The Dons are scheduled to play at Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on Saturday and hosts Owen-Withee on Monday.
