Offensive struggles sink Auburndale boys basketball vs. Pittsville

AUBURNDALE – Auburndale was held to 28 percent shooting as it suffered its fourth-straight loss, a 49-39 defeat against Pittsville in a Marawood Conference South Division boys basketball game Tuesday night at Auburndale High School.

The Apaches (1-4, 0-3 Marawood South) made just 13 of 46 shots from the field and were only 4 of 17 from 3-point range in the loss.

Caleb Weinfurter and Dylan Peplinski each had 11 points to lead Auburndale.

Jake Allind made 8 of 11 shots from the field and had a game-high 16 points for Pittsville (5-1, 3-1 Marawood South).

Auburndale will host its annual tournament on Dec. 28-29. The Apaches play Weyauwega-Fremont at 7:45 p.m. on Monday. Elk Mound and Augusta will play in the first semifinal at 6 p.m. The third-place game is set for Tuesday, Dec. 29, at 5:45 p.m., with the championship game to follow.
