STRATFORD – The Stratford STAR Men’s Basketball League held the first round of its 2015-16 playoffs on Sunday.
Winners move on to second-round matchups in two divisions on Feb. 14.
Here are the first-round results:
A Division
*No. 6-seed Smazal’s Hunters Choice defeated No. 3 A&B Process Systems 77-70. Justin Schaefer led Smazal’s with 29 points. Tom Schaer topped A&B with 15 points. Smazal’s plays No. 1 seed Prudential/Success Realty in the second round.
*No. 4 Kafka Forestry edged No. 5 US Bancorp 76-71. Marshall Lehman led Kafka with 15 points. Chris Murphy scored 24 points for US Bancorp. Kafka Forestry will play No. 2 Victory Apparel in the next round.
B Division
*No. 5 Nutz Deep II rolled to a 121-80 victory over No. 4 Arby’s. Matt Grottke had 38 points and Kenny Pettit had 28 for Nutz Deep II. Jeremy Bulgrin scored 31 points and Nick Sternitzky added 23 for Arby’s. Nutz Deep II moves on to the second round and will play No. 1 Wick’s Auto Body.
*No. 2 Marshfield Country Club defeated No. 7 BSI Stainless 80-51. Chris Klimpke led MCC with 19 points. Bowdie Krall scored 14 for BSI.
*No. 3 Davis Auto beat No. 6 Resource Recovery 67-48. Kyle Davis had 27 points for Davis Auto. Joel Christopherson had 24 points to lead Resource. Davis Auto will take on Marshfield Country Club in the second round.
