Auburndale’s Harrison, Stratford’s Robers win Marawood track titles

STRATFORD – The Auburndale girls and Stratford boys track and field teams each took fourth place Monday at the Marawood Conference South Division Track Meet at Tiger Stadium.

Edgar won both team titles, with the Wausau Newman Catholic girls taking second and the Marathon boys finishing as the runner-up.

The Auburndale boys were fifth and the Stratford girls took sixth.

Ben Robers nailed down the Stratford boys’ lone title, winning the pole vault with a vault of 14 feet. Teammate Jake Griffith was third (11-6), as the Tigers racked up three second-place finishes and four more third-place finishes.

Matt Zuelke finished second in the 1,600 (4:46.90) and in the 3,200 (10:36.73). Steve Wenzel was third in the 1,600 (4:49.80) for the Tigers.

Stratford’s 3,200 relay team of Mark Marquardt, Tylyn Hoover, Brandon McHugh and Zuelke had the Tigers’ other second-place finish.

Auburndale’s Danica Harrison set a new Marawood South record in the 3,200 meters, finishing with a time of 12:18.48. She also was second in the 1,600 (5:42.56).

Kayla Leibl was second in the shot put (32-0.75) for Auburndale’s other top finish.

Stratford’s top girls finish came from the 800 relay team. The team of Alyssa Fisher, Karissa Kaiser, Josie Kolbeck and Carrie Stroetz finished third in 1:53.53.

Auburndale’s Jake Dorshorst has the Apaches’ top finish, taking fourth in the 110 hurdles (17.48 seconds).

Luke Gajewski of Wausau Newman broke Stratford graduate Andrew Rock’s Marawood Conference record in the 200 meters with a time of 22.62, beating Rock’s mark by 2/100 of a second.
