Spencer baseball cruises past Columbus Catholic

SPENCER – Spencer took advantage of 13 walks and used a nine-run second inning to roll past Marshfield Columbus Catholic 16-2 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division baseball game Friday at Spencer High School.

Columbus scored a run in the top of the first before the Rockets scored nine times in the second, twice in the third and five more times in the fourth to put the game away via the 10-run rule.

Calvin Lenz earned the win for the Rockets (2-0 overall and Cloverbelt East), striking out six and scattering seven hits in five innings.

Columbus Catholic drops to 1-5 overall and 1-3 in the Cloverbelt East.

Spencer is at Stratford on Saturday. Columbus returns to action Tuesday at Colby.
