PITTSVILLE – The Marshfield, Auburndale and Marshfield Columbus Catholic track teams competed at the annual Wood County Invitational on Monday at Pittsville High School.
Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin Rapids Assumption, Nekoosa and Pittsville also competed in the event. No team scores were kept.
Marshfield had seven first-place finishes, four from the boys team and three from the girls.
Calden Wojt continued his hot start to the season by winning both the 200 meters (22.98 seconds) and 400 (52.37). Also winning for the Marshfield boys were Quinton Alexander in the shot put (43 feet, ½ inch) and Nate Beyer in the 110-meter hurdles (17.63).
Stephanie Rhodes took first in the high jump (4-8), Katie Olsinki was first in the shot put (32-5¾), and the 400 relay team of Angelina Dunomes, Meg Bryan, Mariah Goeppinger and Maddie Nikolai won in 53.64 for the Marshfield girls.
Columbus Catholic’s Alexandra Hutchison won the 400 (1:01.68) and 200 (27.09), and was second in the 100 (13.44), and Natalie Pospyhalla took first in the 3,200 (13:41.53) for the Dons girls.
The Columbus Catholic boys team’s top finishes consisted of three athletes finishing third – Farid Torbey in the high jump (5-10), Elijah Welsh in the shot put (39-10½), and Tim Gruenloh in the 1,600 (5:06.75).
The Auburndale girls had four meet champions. Sylivann Momont won the long jump (16-6½), Katie Leick took first in the 1,600 (5:53.04), Cassie Mitchell won the 300 hurdles (52.98), and the 1,600 relay team of Rachel Gronemeyer, Isabella Jewell, Leick and Kali Karl won in 4:32.83 for the Apaches.
Carvey Empey was fourth in the 110 hurdles (18.41) and triple jump (38-6) for the Auburndale boys’ top finishes.
