ASHWAUBENON – The Marshfield girls soccer team fought back from a three-goal deficit to make a game of it, but couldn’t get the tie goal and lost a nonconference game to Ashwaubenon 4-3 on Friday night.

Ashwaubenon scored 3:40 into the game before Olivia Haessly tied the game for the Tigers.

The Jaguars pushed across two more goals before halftime and took a 4-1 lead on an own goal 6:09 into the second half.

Andrea Carolfi scored 3 minutes later and Haessly netted another goal in the 61st minute for the Tigers, ending the scoring.

“We connected so many passes tonight and controlled the game for the most part and really played a nice complete game tonight,” Marshfield coach Steve Lindner said. “The defense played a strong game lead by McKayla Scheuer, Patty Bloczynski, Nicole Simon, Emily Critelli and Mickala Brown.

“On offense we created more opportunities and were the aggressor for the majority of the game. Once were were pushed around physically on the field the girls responded and decided they were going to be the aggressor and played an outstanding game.”

Marshfield (3-10) hosts Wausau East at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Griese Park.
