WAUSAU – The Marshfield boys golf team finished fourth for the third-straight time as the Wisconsin Valley Conference Tournament continued with the fifth leg on Friday at Wausau Country Club. Wausau West was the host school.
The Tigers had a team score of 352, 10 shots behind third-place Wausau West. Stevens Point all but wrapped up its sixth-straight WVC championship with a 325 to take first place. The Panthers have won each of the first five legs of the seven-meet tournament.
Marshfield sits 4½ points behind Wausau West for third in the overall standings with two meets left. The sixth leg is Tuesday at RiverEdge Golf Course in Marshfield, and the seventh and final meet of the tournament is May 20 at Merrill Public Golf Course.
Joe Kirschnik led Marshfield with an 84, tying for ninth place overall. Derek Michalski finished out of the top 10 for the first time in the tournament series, taking 11th with an 85, but he still sits firmly in sixth-place in the overall standings.
Zach Hanson had a 91, Brendan Schneider fired a 92, and Grant Michaelis shot a 94 to round out the scoring for Marshfield.
