Stratford boys basketball cruises over Colby in opener

COLBY – Vaughn Breit scored 21 points and Paul Huther added 17 to lift the Stratford boys basketball team to a 60-44 win over Colby in a nonconference game Tuesday night at Colby High School.

The game was the season opener for both teams.

Breit made 11 of 16 free throws and Huther went 7 of 9 at the line for the Tigers, who were 23 of 34 overall. The two also combined to go 10 of 15 from the field, while the rest of the team was just 7 of 22.

Stratford is off until next Tuesday when it hosts Stevens Point Pacelli in its home opener.
