Columbus Catholic boys basketball beats Assumption to win Cranberry Classic title

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic boys basketball team pulled away in the second half to top Wisconsin Rapids Assumption 62-53 in the championship game of the Cranberry Classic on Saturday night at Assumption High School.

The game was tied 31-31 at halftime before the Dons forged ahead to earn their second victory in as many games this season.

Hunter Schultz had 20 points, Tyler Fuerlinger added 16, and Nick Malovrh had 11 for Columbus.

The Dons host Colby in their home and Cloverbelt Conference East Division opener on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.
