STRATFORD – The Auburndale boys basketball team grabbed its first victory of the season, upending Stratford 59-48 in the teams’ Marawood Conference South Division opener Thursday night at Stratford High School.
The Apaches (1-1 overall) opened up a 24-16 lead by halftime and held on from there.
Brenden Fecker scored 15 points, making 8 of 10 free throws, and Vaughn Breit added 14 points and eight rebounds for Stratford (2-2 overall).
Caleb Weinfurter scored 16 points, Collin Hawkins added 11 points and 13 rebounds for the Apaches.
Stratford hosts Owen-Withee for a nonconference game Saturday, while Auburndale is off until Tuesday when it is at home against Wisconsin Rapids Assumption for another Marawood South tilt.
