STEVENS POINT – Marshfield won 10 of the 14 matches to dominate Stevens Point 55-22 in its Wisconsin Valley Conference wrestling dual meet season opener Thursday night at Stevens Point Area Senior High.

Anthony Kanable (138 pounds), Bentley Ostermann-Schwanbeck (160), Sam Mitchell (170), Conner Peterson (195), and Sam Bauman (285) all won by pin for the Tigers.

Tanner Kanable (126) and Payton Young (152) won by decision, and Alex Brost (182) won by major decision for Marshfield, which is 10-2 in dual meets this season.

“Overall, each Tiger wrestler competed for our team tonight,” Marshfield coach Jackson Hein said. “From the first match until the last, we wanted to demonstrate all the hard work we do throughout the week. Last year we dropped this dual, on our home turf. It was a tough loss and I wanted our kids to remember what happened so we can learn from our past.”

Marshfield will compete at the Shawano Invitational on Saturday.
