Auburndale boys basketball cruises past Augusta in home tournament

AUBURNDALE – Auburndale ran out to a 24-point lead by halftime and cruised to a 79-46 victory over Augusta in a semifinal of the Auburndale Holiday Boys Basketball Tournament on Thursday night at Auburndale High School.

The Apaches led 43-19 at halftime and pushed their lead to 33 by the end of the game.

Luke Olsen had 16 points, Colton Wright added 14 and Caleb Weinfurter had 12 for Auburndale (4-3).

Ten different Apaches scored in the win and they shot a combined 30-for-55 overall, 6 of 14 from 3-point range, and 13 of 17 at the free throw line.

Auburndale will take on Loyal in the championship game of the tournament Friday at 7:30 p.m. Loyal rolled past Weyauwega-Fremont 74-32 in the other semifinal. Cameron Brussow had 25 points and Riley Geiger added 18 for Loyal (6-1).

Weyauwega-Fremont (2-6) will play Augusta (4-4) in the third-place game at 6 p.m. Friday.
