Stratford, Spencer/Columbus wrestlers 2-1 at quad

STRATFORD – Stratford, Spencer/Columbus Catholic and Wittenberg-Birnamwood each went 2-1 on Friday night at the Stratford Quadrangular wrestling meet at Stratford High School.

The only thing that kept Spencer/Columbus from a perfect night was a 38-37 loss to Stratford, in which the teams tied 37-37, but to break the tie Stratford won on criteria for winning the first match.

Luke Radke (189 pounds), Indy Spindler (285), Randy Hoefs (103), Andrew Tackes (130) and Mark Marquardt (152) won by pin for Stratford.
Spencer/Columbus got pins from Nick Vaughan (215), Brady Zais (112), Rudy Nieman (125) and James Rogers (140).

Tye Ackman beat Andre Tackes 6-3 in the final match at 160 pounds to force the tie for the Rockets.
Stratford beat an under-manned Elcho team 72-6, winning seven matches by forfeit. Steve Marquardt (119), Jake Guyer (125), Derek Dehlinger (135), Brandon McHugh (140) and Mark Marquardt (152) won by pin for the Tigers.

The Tigers also were close to a perfect night, losing 37-36 to Wittenberg-Birnamwood.
Ben Robers (171), Jake Kauth (215), Spindler (285) and Hoefs (103) had pins for Stratford. Andre Tackes (160) and Tylyn Hoover (145) won by decision for the Tigers.

Spencer/Columbus beat Elcho 70-6. Earning pins for the Rockets were Luke Bump (171), Lance Neuman (189), Ryan Stange (119), Nieman (125), Dylan Cline (130), Rogers (140) and Austin Mahoney (145).

The Rockets also beat Wittenberg-Birnamwood. No results were provided.

In the final match, Witt-Birn defeated Elcho 63-15.
